This Privacy Policy explains how DogCompatibility (“DogCompatibility,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and compatibility tools. We designed the experience to work without requiring an account.

Information we collect

• Email address — provided when you choose to unlock your complete results or purchase a guide, so we can deliver and save them for you.
• First name (optional) — used only to personalize your results and guide.
• Assessment answers — the lifestyle responses you give during the compatibility assessment, and the resulting breed matches.
• Optional ZIP Code — if you provide an optional ZIP Code, we use it to estimate the typical climate in your area. Where technically practical, we retain the resulting climate classification rather than the ZIP Code itself.
• Purchase records — if you buy a guide, we retain a record of the transaction (such as a payment processor reference, amount, and date). We do not store your full card number or security code on our servers; card details are handled by our payment processor.
• Basic technical & usage data — limited, privacy-minded analytics events (for example, that a results page was viewed) that do not include your email or other directly identifying personal information.

How we use your information

• To generate, deliver, and save your compatibility results and any guide you purchase.
• To send transactional messages (for example, your results email and purchase confirmation).
• To send optional marketing messages only if you separately opt in (see below).
• To operate, secure, and improve the service.

Marketing consent & unsubscribe

Marketing email is strictly optional. We only send marketing messages if you check the separate, unchecked-by-default consent box. Declining does not affect your results or any purchase. We record the date, the wording you agreed to, and the version of this policy in effect at that time. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in any marketing email; unsubscribing does not stop essential transactional messages related to a purchase.

How your information is stored & secured

Your results and related data are stored on our servers and retrieved through a unique, unguessable link rather than a public listing. We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-party service providers

We use third-party service providers for payment processing, email delivery, hosting, analytics, and infrastructure where necessary to operate the service. Card payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor; we do not store your full card number or security code on our servers. These providers process information according to their respective privacy obligations and our use of their services.

Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, maintain transaction and business records, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and protect the security of the service. Information that is no longer reasonably necessary may be deleted or de-identified.

Your rights & choices

Children’s privacy

DogCompatibility is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
